About Samara's Village

Samara’s Village, founded in late 2015, is a grassroots, charitable non-profit with a vision to positively affect the health and well-being of families in our community for generations to come. We offer programs to assist pregnant and parenting teens, who live in Brunswick County. Participants in our programs are being educated, equipped, and empowered to raise their children in a manner that will have a lasting impact, improving their chances at success later in life.
Our founders chose to serve pregnant and parenting adolescents because Brunswick County’s teen pregnancy rates are higher than the surrounding counties and most of the counties in North Carolina. Research has shown teen parents and their children are at a higher risk for becoming unhealthy physically, socially and emotionally. Samara’s Village is the first and only charity of its kind in the county. We recognized that in order for this at-risk population to succeed in raising healthy families, they needed support.
We believe in the power of education to change lives. Therefore, pregnancy and parenting education is our main service; not just for the young mothers, but the fathers, also. We also provide emotional support through one-on-one mentorship, we encourage healthy lifestyles, literacy, continuing education, career development, monitor the child’s early development, and connect our participants to community resources for the services they need.

Through a generous community that provides in-kind donations, we are also able to provide for the young family’s immediate needs in times of financial stress. Our Resource Closet contains everything from diapers and wipes to formula and baby food to infant clothing to books and strollers and much more.
Our support comes entirely through donations from individuals, businesses, and organizations in the Cape Fear Area - People like you who know that healthy families raise healthy children, who will be ready to succeed in school, academically, socially, and emotionally.
